There are a number of sources of parent and tutor training options available. This list doesn't include every source, but we want to share the following options available:
Middletown Centre for Autism
Middletown Centre for Autism will facilitate a number of innovative parent training events across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. These trainings are open to parents and family members of children and young people with ASD and are free of charge. Click here to link to their current schedule of courses.
LEAP Parent Training
LEAP are parents working with professional allies whose mission is to support people with intellectual disabilities and people with autism and their families through person directed education/training, planning and supports. LEAP stands for "Leading, Educating, Advocating, Planning".
LEAP offer a selection of workshops in Dublin, Cork and elsewhere:
- Person Centred Planning
- How to build a Circle of Supports
- How to Advocate for your family member with a disability
- Communications & Supporting Skills Programme for Parents - 7 week course

PECS
Picture Exchange Communications System, by Pyramid, are offering a series of 2-day training courses on PECS. Check out their web-sie for dates of current courses.
Family: "Who decides and how?"
Inclusion Ireland provided a 2-hour seminar on decision-making, to include discussion on guardianship, legal capacity, ward of court, as well as inheritance, trust funds and wills. Inclusion Ireland run other seminars for parents, and you can check their web-site for their current schedule.
